Dawn is the founder of LIFT Health & Fitness, a successful personal training and wellness studio in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, where she supports people to improve their health, fitness and overall wellbeing through exercise. Since opening her studio in September 2023, Dawn has coached hundreds of people both in person and online. Her studio quickly became oversubscribed, reflecting both the demand for her supportive coaching style and the results she helps people achieve.
Dawn is passionate about helping people understand the important role exercise plays in managing stress, improving productivity and supporting both physical and mental wellbeing. She believes movement is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve our quality of life, regardless of our age, stage of life or previous experience with fitness.
Before moving into the health and fitness industry, Dawn spent 19 years working in education after graduating from St Martin’s University in Lancaster with a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status.
Alongside teaching PE, she worked within the pastoral system for 18 years, holding various Senior Leader positions before becoming Head of Sixth Form for the final 7 years of her teaching career.
Throughout her time in education, Dawn developed a strong understanding of the pressures people face balancing work, family life and personal wellbeing. It also gave her a first-hand awareness of the important role exercise plays in supporting productivity, reducing stress and improving both physical and mental wellbeing throughout all stages of life.
Driven by her long-standing interest in health and fitness, Dawn trained as a personal trainer in 2020 while still working in education. She later reduced her teaching commitments before transitioning from teaching into business ownership.
She holds both Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications and is currently studying to become a women’s specialist coach within the health and fitness industry.
Dawn brings together her extensive background in education, coaching and behaviour change to deliver practical, engaging and supportive sessions that empower people to make positive, sustainable changes to their health and wellbeing.
